BACKGROUND:

 

Article 7, section 10 of the State Constitution (Amendment 17, 1966) permits the Legislature to pass laws granting retired property owners relief from the property tax on the real property occupied as a residence by those owners. 

 

SUMMARY:

 

The income cut offs for exemptions from excess property taxes and for partial exemptions from regular property taxes are raised to adjust for inflation.
