SUMMARY:

Members of TRS I who have served in the United States armed forces, been employed overseas as a teacher by the United States Department of Defense, or has been employed as a teacher in another state, may upon employment or reemployment receive up to two years service credit.  The member is required to show proof of military service or teaching service out-of-state and make the necessary employee contributions.  The claim for receiving such service credit must be made by June 30, 1992, if now employed, or within five years after being employed or reemployed by a school district in the state.
