BACKGROUND:

 

Members of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), Tier I, who have completed 25 years of credited service may gain up to five years of additional service credit for military service.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The PERS I provision for up to five years additional service credit for military service after completing 25 years of service is replaced by a provision which allows one year of service credit for military service for each five years of credit service in PERS I, limited to gaining five additional years service credit.
