Revising apprenticeship council provisions.

BACKGROUND:

 

The State Apprenticeship Council is directed to: (1) establish standards for apprenticeship agreements; (2) issue rules and regulations needed to implement state statutes regarding apprenticeships; and (3) other duties as prescribed by law.

 

Council members are paid $50 for each day that a member attends an official meeting of the council or attends to statutorily prescribed duties approved by the council chair.

 

A state Supervisor of Apprenticeship shall register, after the approval of the Apprenticeship Council, such apprentice programs which are in the best interests of the apprentice.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Council members shall be paid $100 per day for official meetings of the council.

 

The Supervisor of Apprenticeship shall not establish a new apprenticeship agreement or program while one exists for a trade or craft.

 

The Apprenticeship Council shall not be authorized to combine crafts or trades to establish a new apprenticeship program.  Dual state apprenticeship programs are prohibited.
