BACKGROUND:

 

The major functions of the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors are to review the qualifications of, conduct examinations for, and register members of the two professions.  In addition, the Board investigates charges of unprofessional conduct and has power to assess penalties as provided by law.  The Board employs its own staff.  It has been suggested that the staffing responsibility be assigned to an umbrella agency such as the Department of Licensing.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Board's employment authority is removed, and assigned to the Director of Licensing.
