AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS, MARCH 3, 1987

BACKGROUND:

Elections in districts that provide diking, drainage or flood control are held on the second Tuesday in December in each odd-numbered year.  Voting is limited to owners of property within these districts.

Elections must be held within the districts.  The business offices of some of these districts are located outside the district boundaries.  It is suggested that elections should be allowed to be held at a district's business office, regardless of whether it is within or outside of the district.

SUMMARY:

Elections in districts that provide diking, drainage or flood control may be held at the district's principal business office, regardless of whether the office is within or outside of the district.
