BACKGROUND:

 

Trappers are not currently required to have permission of private property owners in order to trap on private property.

 

Some private property owners are concerned that unauthorized trapping on their property may result in harm to pets.

 

SUMMARY:

 

A trapper must have written permission from the property owner to trap on private property or face loss of license and a minimum $500 fine.  Property owners may remove traps placed on their land without permission.
