Freezing industrial insurance rate for shake and shingle mill operators.

BACKGROUND:

 

Of the approximately 250 classifications of employers for industrial insurance premium setting purposes, shake and shingle mill operators are among the highest.  Their rate effective January 1, 1987 is $3.98 per hour. That rate represents an approximate increase of 15 percent over the January 1, 1986 rate.

 

For comparison purposes, the rate for logging is $4.29, for diving, wharf and pier construction the rate is $3.36, for roofing the rate is $2.70, for crane and derrick construction the rate is $2.32, and for residential construction the rate is $1.48.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The base rate premium for shake and shingle mills is frozen at the January 1, 1986 level.
