BACKGROUND:

 

Development of community resources for developmentally disabled individuals is an ongoing and lengthy process which may span one biennium into the next.  It is unknown if resources for potential projects will be made available.

 

Separate legislation is introduced due to the timing difficulties in securing federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds for the construction of the requested group home beds.

 

SUMMARY:

 

An appropriation of $1,168,500 from the general fund-state for the establishment and operation of 24 additional group home beds and related services for developmentally disabled individuals is made.

Effective Date:The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
