BACKGROUND:

 

Employed persons who apply for Aid for Dependent Children are required to report their income to the Department of Social and Health Services.  Their gross income is measured against a formula and they qualify for assistance if the income does not exceed the formula.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The AFDC eligibility requirements are modified so that the net rather than gross income of a working applicant is measured against the eligibility formula.
