AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE & LABOR, MARCH 5, 1987

BACKGROUND:

Current law requires that when a new motor vehicle is out of service for a cumulative total of more than 30 days, the manufacturer must reimburse the buyer for the purchase price.  The days when the shop is not open for conditions beyond the control of the service facility and when a loaner car is provided do not count toward the total of 30 days.

SUMMARY:

Senate Bill 6046 was introduced by title only.

EFFECT OF PROPOSED SUBSTITUTE:

The days that a loaner car is provided do not count toward the 30-day out-of-service period that obligates the manufacturer to reimburse the buyer the purchase price of the vehicle.
