SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

BACKGROUND:

The Shoreline Management Act requires that for most developments over $2,500 in value within 200 feet of shorelines of the state a substantial development permit must be obtained.  Such permits are issued by local governments having jurisdiction over the portion of the shoreline where the development is to occur, with appeal rights to the Shorelines Hearings Board.  Exemption from the requirements of obtaining substantial development permits is provided for certain activities and uses, including construction of certain docks serving single family residences, the cost of which does not exceed $2,500.

SUMMARY:

The exemptions from the definition of "substantial development" in RCW 90.58.030 are amended to include community docks, as well as other docks, which cost $2,500 or less and serve single or multiple family residences.
