BACKGROUND:

 

Health products and services are expanding in importance in the Washington State economy.  The area of biotechnology is particularly expanding.

 

The Legislature directed the Department of Trade and Economic Development to develop a pamphlet to promote Washington agricultural equipment in 1986.  It is suggested that a similar pamphlet for health products and services would help promote those products.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Department of Trade and Economic Development is directed to develop a pamphlet to help promote Washington health products and services.

 

 

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED COMMITTEE AMENDMENT:

 

A technical amendment clarifies that Washington suppliers, manufacturers, and providers of health care products and services will be included in the pamphlet.

 

Appropriation:    $10,000 to the Department of Trade and Economic Development from the general fund
