BACKGROUND:

 

Federal law previously required that daylight savings time commence, by advancing the time one hour, at 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday in April.  Federal law has now changed the beginning of daylight savings time to the first Sunday in April.

 

SUMMARY:

 

State law concerning the commencement of daylight savings time is made consistent with the new federal law.  Daylight savings time in the State of Washington begins at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in April.
