AS PASSED SENATE, FEBRUARY 16, 1988

BACKGROUND:

State law mandates that a building permit is required for the construction or alteration of any building in the unincorporated areas of the county where the value of the material exceeds $500.  This value threshold was established in 1963.  It has been suggested that an increase in the value threshold is warranted due to inflation and increased construction costs.

SUMMARY:

The value threshold for requiring a building permit is increased from $500 to $1,500.

Appropriation:    none

Revenue:    none

Fiscal Note:      none requested
