AS PASSED SENATE, FEBRUARY 8, 1988

BACKGROUND:

In 1979, the office of the Code Reviser began the process of cleaning up obsolete references in Washington statutes. Legislation often devolves powers onto newly created agencies or transfers powers from one agency to another but does not amend every section to refer to the proper agency.  There are concerns that the Washington code may not be as useful to the public when it contains inaccurate references or references to agencies that do not exist.

SUMMARY:

An inaccurate citation reference is corrected in section one of the banking and agriculture act.  In sections two through five, references to the Division of Banking of the Department of Taxation and Examination and the Division of Banking of the Department of Finance, Budget and Business are changed to the Division of Banking of the Department of General Administration.  References to the director of marketing, the director of farm markets and the director of markets are changed to the director of agriculture.  A numbering error is corrected in section 10 and a transfer section is decodified in section 11.
