BACKGROUND:

 

Revenue projections indicate shortfalls for the Driver Services Division of the Department of Licensing in the highway safety fund.  Revenue sources include $10.20 of the $14 license fee and the $3.50 charge for copies of record.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The charge for copies of record is increased by $1 from $3.50 to $4.50 and is deposited in the highway safety fund.

 

 

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED SENATE AMENDMENT:

 

Language is added that (1) requires the unused portion of transit district 1 percent motor vehicle excise tax to be transferred to the motor vehicle fund instead of the general fund; (2) vehicle registration fees are increased $4.75; and (3) 12 percent of the revenues generated by fines and forfeitures are to be deposited in the highway safety fund.
