Revising provisions relating to district court judges' salaries.

BACKGROUND:

 

Salaries for full-time district court judges are set by the Washington Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials.  Salaries for part-time district court judges and district court judges pro tempore are set by the county legislative authority in each county in accordance with the minimum and maximum levels established for the district.

 

All salaries of full-time and part-time district court judges and judges pro tempore in district court are paid out of the county treasury.

 

SUMMARY:

 

One-half of the annual salaries of each full-time and part-time district court judge is to be paid by the state.

 

One-half of the salary of judges pro tempore is to be paid by the state.
