BACKGROUND:

 

Under authority of the Washington State Constitution and authority delegated by the Legislature, the Commission on Harbor Lines is authorized to change, relocate or re-establish harbor lines.  The Legislature specifically lists in law which harbor lines the commission is to deal with.  Harbor lines are established in areas where commerce warrants it.  As urban development expands along shoreline areas, harbor lines need to be developed to assist in commerce and navigation.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Harbor Line Commission shall establish harbor lines in front of the city of Edmonds and in front of the city of Gig Harbor.
