BACKGROUND:

 

A new fishing license requirement was instituted in 1988, the personal use license for food fish recreational fishermen.  Fees for the license are $3 for residents and $9 for non-residents.  Revenue from the license is placed in the state general fund.

 

Some people do not wish to buy the license, and would like to see the licensing requirement repealed.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The requirements for personal use food fish licenses are repealed.

 

 

EFFECT OF PROPOSED SUBSTITUTE:

 

The Department of Fisheries and the Department of Wildlife are to develop recommendations on simplifying and consolidating fishing licenses.  A report is to be submitted by September 1, 1988.

Fiscal Note:      requested January 26, 1988

 

Effective Date:The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
