AN ACT Relating to infection control measures; and adding a new chapter to Title 70 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     The state board of health, in an effort to fulfill its paramount duty to protect the public health and to control the spread of acquired immune deficiency syndrome, also known as "AIDS", shall, pursuant to chapter 34.04 RCW:

          (1) Establish methods to obtain detailed information about the existence, movement, frequency, and distribution of the "AIDS" virus in the population;

          (2) Implement infection control measures reasonably believed to be effective as indicated by the information acquired and medically sound practices; and

          (3) Establish procedures that require the reporting of AIDS virus related malignancies.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     Section 1 of this act shall constitute a new chapter in Title 70 RCW.
