AN ACT Relating to the real estate excise tax; and amending RCW 82.45.180.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

        Sec. 1.  Section 6, chapter 154, Laws of 1980 as last amended by section 2, chapter 176, Laws of 1982 and RCW 82.45.180 are each amended to read as follows:

          The county treasurer shall place one percent of the proceeds of the tax imposed by this chapter and one dollar per real estate excise tax affidavit in the county current expense fund to defray costs of collection and shall pay over to the state treasurer and account to the department of revenue for the remainder of the proceeds at the same time the county treasurer remits funds to the state under RCW 84.56.280.  ((The proceeds of the tax on any sale occurring prior to September 1, 1981, when the proceeds have not been certified by an educational service district superintendent for school districts prior to September 1, 1981, shall be included in the amount remitted to the state treasurer.))  The state treasurer shall deposit the proceeds in the general fund for the support of the common schools.
