AN ACT Relating to property taxes; adding a new section to chapter 84.52 RCW; and providing an effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 84.52 RCW to read as follows:

          The cumulative property tax limitation provided in RCW 84.52.043 shall be increased in a taxing district by an amount equal to the rate of the emergency medical care and services levy, and for the number of years of this levy, that is approved by the voters of that taxing district pursuant to RCW 84.52.069.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     Section 1 of this act shall take effect January 1, 1988, if the proposed amendment to Article VII, section 2 of the state Constitution, HJR --- (H---/87), exempting levies for emergency medical care and services from the one percent limitation on regular property taxes, is validly submitted to and is approved and ratified by the voters at the general election held in November, 1987.  If this proposed amendment is not so approved and ratified, section 1 of this act shall be null and void.
