AN ACT Relating to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome; amending RCW 70.24.010; and prescribing penalties.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

        Sec. 1.  Section 1, chapter 114, Laws of 1919 and RCW 70.24.010 are each amended to read as follows:

          Syphilis, gonorrhea, human immunodeficiency virus, and chancroid hereinafter designated as venereal diseases are hereby declared to be contagious, infectious, communicable and dangerous to the public health.  It shall be unlawful for anyone infected with these diseases or any of them to knowingly expose another person to infection.  Knowingly infecting another person with human immunodeficiency virus is a class C felony under chapter 9A.20 RCW if it is a first violation and a class B felony thereafter.
