AN ACT Relating to cruelty to animals; and adding a new section to chapter 16.52 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 16.52 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) No city, town, county, special purpose district, humane society, or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals may sell any animal for use in medical research to a research institution or to any other purchaser.

          (2) A court may award injunctive relief to enforce this section.
