AN ACT Relating to motor vehicles; adding a new section to chapter 46.61 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 46.37 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 46.61 RCW to read as follows:

          The secretary shall increase the maximum speed limit to sixty-five miles per hour on any highway or portion thereof during daylight hours if:

          (1) Such an increase would not jeopardize federal highway funds;

          (2) The legislature bans the sale, use, and possession of radar detectors designed to receive police radar bands; and

          (3) The highway or portion thereof would safely allow such speed.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 46.37 RCW to read as follows:

          No person shall sell, possess, or use a device that is capable of receiving police radar bands and designed to be used in a motor vehicle in the state of Washington.
