WHEREAS, The State Convention and Trade Center under chapter 67.40 RCW was authorized by the Legislature in 1982; and

          WHEREAS, The legislature authorized general obligation bonds and special excise taxes for the financing of the State Convention and Trade Center, which is currently under construction in Seattle; and

          WHEREAS, Recent reports indicate that the convention center may be in need of additional money to solve a cash flow problem;

          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate of the State of Washington, the House of Representatives concurring, That a joint select committee be established to review the creation, funding, construction, and management of the State Convention and Trade Center.  The joint select committee shall consist of four members appointed by the President of the Senate, two each from the majority and minority caucuses of the Senate, and four members appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, two each from the majority and minority caucuses of the House of Representatives, for a total of eight members; and

          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the committee shall submit the results of its review, including recommendations, to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by January 1, 1988.
