AS PASSED HOUSE FEBRUARY 8, 1989
BACKGROUND:
A sewer district is permitted to annex territory that is adjoining or in close proximity to the district. A sewer district located in a fifth class or smaller county that is composed entirely of islands may annex any non-adjoining territory.
SUMMARY:
Language is deleted concerning the ability of a sewer district to annex any non-adjoining territory, if the sewer district were located in a county of the fifth class or a smaller county composed entirely of islands. Any non-adjoining territory on an island may be annexed to a sewer district located on the island.
Fiscal Note: Not Requested.
House Committee ‑ Testified For: Dave Rogers, citizen.
House Committee - Testified Against: None Presented.
House Committee - Testimony For: This gives flexibility without a proliferation of additional districts. One sewer district exists on Vashon Island, but several non-adjacent areas need sewers. This will permit annexation of the areas.
House Committee - Testimony Against: None Presented.
