BACKGROUND:
Interlocal agreements are cooperative agreements between governmental units to jointly provide public services. L.O.T.T. (Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Thurston County) is an example of an interlocal agreement created to run sewage treatment plants for the area.
All interlocal agreements are filed with the appropriate City Clerk and County Auditor, and the Secretary of State.
The Secretary of State receives approximately 200 interlocal agreements each year. Upon receipt, these agreements are filed into state archives.
SUMMARY:
Interlocal agreements no longer need to be filed with the Secretary of State.
