SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED
BACKGROUND:
An officer of the state Board of Nursing must be present with a majority of the board to constitute a quorum. Board members may be removed by the governor for dishonorable acts. The Uniform Disciplinary Act for the health professions that governs the practice of nursing and defines unprofessional conduct, makes no mention of dishonorable acts.
Applicants for licensure as registered nurses who fail the examination may take a subsequent one within a year without charge.
SUMMARY:
A quorum of the state Board of Nursing may be constituted without the presence of a board officer. Board members may be removed for incompetency or unprofessional conduct under the Uniform Disciplinary Act.
The provision is repealed that allowed applicants for licensure as registered nurses who failed their examination to take a subsequent examination without charge.
Statutory references are amended to update terminology, and repeal obsolete sections.
