BACKGROUND:

 

Local governments are responsible for providing roads, streets, sewer systems, and water systems.

 

SUMMARY:

 

SUBSTITUTE BILL:  The Local Government Committee, Revenue Committee, Transportation Committee, and Trade and Economic Development Committee of the House of Representatives shall study the ability of local governments to finance their infrastructure needs arising from commercial construction and prepare, for introduction at the 1990 Legislative Session, any needed legislation authorizing the taxation of such development to finance such needs.

 

SUBSTITUTE BILL COMPARED TO ORIGINAL:  This is a total change from the original bill that diverted a portion of the sales tax on commercial property and placed it into an account, and monies in the account were to be distributed to counties, cities and towns for their infrastructure needs.
