                              SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Washington Minimum Wage Act, as amended by Initiative 518 in 1989, establishes state minimum wages for adults and youths.  College or university students who are employed by the institution of higher education at which they are enrolled are exempt from these provisions.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The state minimum wage provision exempting students employed by the colleges or universities in which they are enrolled is repealed.
