                              SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

 

BACKGROUND:

 

In 1986, the Legislature created the Educational Excellence Awards Program to recognize teachers, administrators, principals, superintendents, and school boards.  The award recognizes the leadership, contributions, and commitment of these individuals to education.  Classified employees are not eligible to receive the Educational Excellence Award.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Three classified employees from each congressional district of the state will be eligible to receive the Educational Excellence Award.  Recipients will receive a certificate presented by the governor and the superintendent of public instruction.
