                              SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

BACKGROUND:

The Board of Medical Examiners may issue, without examination, a limited license to practice medicine in Washington to a physician participating in a fellowship program.  The physician must have graduated from a recognized medical school and be licensed in his or her place of origin.  The license is limited to practice in connection with the fellowship program and may be renewed by the board for up to two calendar years, commencing January 1.  However, fellowship programs generally commence mid-year within an academic year, and a licensure renewal issued on a calendar year basis may not coincide with the fellowship program.

SUMMARY:

The limited license of a physician participating in a fellowship program in this state may be renewed from the date of the initial license to coincide with the duration of the fellowship program, but for no more than a total of two years.
