Requesting the President and Congress to promote a solution to the Cyprus problem.
BACKGROUND:
The conflict between Cyprus and Turkey has resulted in Turkish occupation of Cyprus territory. During this period of occupation, Turkey has received aid, both financial and military, from the United States. The United Nations Secretary General has not been able to solve the Cyprus problem.
SUMMARY:
The president and Congress are asked to assist the United Nations Secretary General in finding a solution to the Cyprus problem, to stop subsidizing the illegal occupation of Cyprus with aid to Turkey, and to exert efforts to restore majority rule to Cyprus.
