BACKGROUND:

 

Counties, cities, and towns are required to provide ramps of a certain size on or near the crosswalks at intersections whenever curbs are constructed on any connecting street or road for which curbs and sidewalks have been prescribed by the governing body.  It has been reported that curbs have been installed in some instances without curb cuts.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Counties, cities and towns are required to provide ramps of a certain size on or near the crosswalks at intersections whenever curbs are constructed.

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED SENATE AMENDMENT:

 

Curb cuts for ramps are required in combination with sidewalks, pathways or other pedestrian access ways.
