BACKGROUND:
In 1986, the Legislature created the Washington Award for Excellence in Education Program to recognize annually teachers, principals, administrators, school district superintendents and school boards for their leadership, contributions and commitment to education. Three teachers and three principals or administrators from each congressional district and one superintendent and one school district board of directors statewide shall receive awards.
SUMMARY:
The number of teachers to receive awards is increased from three to five teachers for each congressional district in the state. The number of principals or administrators to receive awards is decreased from three for each congressional district to five principals or administrators statewide.
