AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE, MARCH 23, 1989
BACKGROUND:
A farm labor lien is one type of lien that by law may be held against a crop for the work or services performed on the crop. Prior to a 1986 recodification of these crop lien laws, a person claiming a lien for work or labor had to file such a lien within twenty days after the cessation of the work or labor for which the lien was claimed. Under the 1986 recodification, such claims must be filed prior to the completion of the harvest of the crops against which the lien would be filed.
SUMMARY:
A person claiming a lien against a crop for the furnishing of work or labor must file the claim with the Department of Licensing within twenty days after the cessation of the work or labor for which the lien is claimed.
Appropriation: none
Revenue: none
