BACKGROUND:

 

The state minimum wage act, as amended by Initiative 518 in 1989, establishes the adult state minimum wage at $4.25 and authorizes a youth state minimum wage for employees under 18.  College students who are employed by the institution of higher education at which they are enrolled are exempt from these provisions.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The provision is repealed that exempts students enrolled in and employed by an institution of higher education from the state minimum wage act.
