BACKGROUND:
In 1986 the Legislature created the Educational Excellence Awards, which are given annually to teachers, educational staff associates, administrators, principals, superintendents and school boards for outstanding leadership and contributions in education. Classified employees are not eligible to receive Educational Excellence Awards. Classified employees are eligible to receive employee suggestion awards and employee commendation awards that school boards may establish at the local level.
SUMMARY:
Annually, three classified employees from each congressional district will be recognized with a nonmonetary Educational Excellence Award. Recipients will receive a certificate presented by the Governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction.
