AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON LAW & JUSTICE, FEBRUARY 16, 1990
BACKGROUND:
Chapter 2.36 RCW regarding juries was amended in 1988. The purpose of the amendments was to promote efficient jury administration and to provide for the uniform selection, summoning, and compensation of jurors. Presently, the county clerk issues summons for jury duty. In courts of limited jurisdiction, summons is issued by the court. If the courts agree, the superior court may summon jurors for all courts in the county or judicial district.
SUMMARY:
If the courts agree, the county clerk, rather than the superior court, may summon jurors for all courts in the county or judicial district.
Appropriation: none
Revenue: none
Fiscal Note: none requested
