SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

BACKGROUND:

There remain in the RCW numerous references to gender- specific language which is outdated.

SUMMARY:

Outdated gender-specific language used in the RCW is deleted or modified.  Examples include replacing the word "workmen" with "workers" or "persons," "journeymen" by "journey level worker," and supplementing "him" with "or her."
