BACKGROUND:

 

Access to higher education opportunities has become increasingly important to citizens of the state of Washington.  Students need access to state-supported upper division programs leading to a baccalaureate degree.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Higher Education Coordinating Board is directed to establish a program to provide upper division college classes leading to a bachelor's degree in at least one location in either Clallam or Jefferson County.

 

 

EFFECT OF PROPOSED SUBSTITUTE:

 

The Higher Education Coordinating Board is directed to study the need for upper division college classes in Clallam and Jefferson Counties and alternatives for delivery.  $25,000 is appropriated to the Higher Education Coordinating Board to carry out provisions of this act.
