AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & LABOR, JANUARY 29, 1990
BACKGROUND:
Contractors are currently required to include their contractor's license numbers in all advertising. Some contractors complain that the cost to print the number is excessive and outweighs the benefit to the public.
SUMMARY:
Contractors are no longer required to include their registration numbers in advertisements, only the status of their registration.
EFFECT OF PROPOSED SECOND SUBSTITUTE:
All alphabetized listings of contractors appearing in the advertising section of telephone books or other directories, and all advertising that shows the contractor's name or address are required to include the contractor's current registration number.
Contractor advertising done by airwave transmission need not include the contractor's registration number or status, as long as the person selling the advertisement obtains the current registration number of the contractor.
Appropriation: none
Revenue: none
Fiscal Note: none requested
