BACKGROUND:

 

Veterans of military services and children, 19 or older, of law enforcement officers or fire fighters who were killed or disabled in the line of duty are exempt from tuition and fees at the state's institutions of higher education.  This exemption does not extend to children of U.S. military personnel killed or disabled while on active duty.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Children of a Washington resident killed or disabled on active duty while a member of the U.S. military are exempt from the payment of tuition and fees at any of the state's public institutions of higher education.
