Changing the requirements for auctioneers who hold temporary subagency licenses.
Senate Committee on Economic Development & Labor
Senate Hearing Date(s):January 31, 1989
Senate Staff:Steve Boruchowitz (786-7429)
AS OF JANUARY 24, 1989
BACKGROUND:
An auctioneer who sells vehicles off premises must obtain a temporary vehicle subagency license ($25) for every sales event. The industry has indicated that in some cases, this presents an unnecessary paperwork burden that produces little additional public benefit.
SUMMARY:
An annual temporary subagency license category is established. A fee of $100 is charged for this optional license. Vehicle dealers must post the license at each auction and notify the Department of Licensing three days prior to that auction. The vehicle dealer's bond must cover sales anywhere in the state.
Appropriation: none
Revenue: yes
Fiscal Note: requested January 24, 1989
