AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT & NATURAL RESOURCES, FEBRUARY 8, 1989

BACKGROUND:

To bring attention to the many outdoor recreational opportunities in the state, the Legislature authorized the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation to publish a comprehensive guide of public parks and recreation sites.  About 100,000 were printed in 1981 and approximately 25,000 have been sold to date.

The sales of the guide books have not been in sufficient volume to cover the initial publication and distribution costs.  Revisions and updating have not been possible due to the mandated cost recovery requirements.

SUMMARY:

Provisions of RCW 43.99.142 requiring the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation to sell the outdoor recreation guide to cover initial and reasonable production and distribution costs are repealed.

Appropriation:    none

Revenue:    none

Fiscal Note:      none requested
