BACKGROUND:
In 1987, the Legislature required that the Superintendent of Public Instruction adopt rules to implement a plan for the distribution of moneys appropriated for the Substance Abuse Awareness Program. Moneys made available through this program may be used in part for: prevention programs, elementary and secondary identification and intervention programs, school drug and alcohol core team development and training, development of referral and preassessment procedures, aftercare, specialists, staff, parent, student and community training, and coordination with law enforcement and community service providers. No state appropriation to support this legislation has been made. The program is federally funded in the current 1987-89 biennium.
SUMMARY:
Technical clarifying changes are made to bring the statute into conformance with federal guidelines.
