BACKGROUND:

 

Fish that are dead or have fish diseases have been dumped into public waters in Canada.  This is not a desirable procedure, either from the standpoint of aquaculture or protecting the environment.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Director of the Department of Fisheries will adopt rules which prohibit the disposal of dead or diseased fish into public water by aquatic farmers and will prescribe specific approved methods for disposal of dead or diseased fish.
