BACKGROUND:

 

State participation in activities of the Northwest low-level radioactive waste compact and the participation of other member states at compact meetings is paid for through the site use permit fee collected by the state.  The state participates in the compact and its decisionmaking through a representative appointed by the Governor.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The state representative to the compact committee is the director of the Department of Ecology.  Costs of participation in the compact by other member states shall not be paid for or reimbursed by the state of Washington.
